Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed joy for Tyrique George after the young winger scored his first professional goal in the club’s 3-0 win over Legia Warsaw in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final.
The goal was a milestone for the 19-year-old, who capitalized on a rebound to break the deadlock and put his team in control.
George, born in England to Nigerian and Ghanaian parents, has been with Chelsea since his youth days, making his first-team debut this season.
Following the match, Maresca expressed his happiness for George.
Maresca also highlighted the versatility of teammate Josh Acheampong, who impressed in multiple roles.
“Very happy first of all for the Chelsea academy because it’s one of our boys from the academy so very happy for him.
“He was quite good first half, take responsibility, second half in the middle probably was a bit better but the one that I fall in love tonight is Josh Acheampong.
“For me, he can be fantastic player, top player for this club, for the football in general and a good player show you that can play in different positions, he can do good.
“He was full back, good, midfielder, good, central defender, good, so it’s not about I play in that position or in that position, if you are good player you can be in different position.”
