Kylian Mbappe has expressed excitement about returning to the France squad as they prepare for their UEFA Nations League quarter-final against Croatia.
The Real Madrid forward of Cameroonian and Algerian descent has been absent from recent international fixtures for various reasons, but he is now available and eager to help Les Bleus progress in the tournament.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s match, Mbappe shared his joy at being back in camp with his teammates.
“Most of the teammates who are here, we talk pretty much all the time. I go on holiday with some of them. It’s a pleasure to be here,” he said.
Mbappe also dismissed any speculation about his previous absences, insisting there was never any internal confusion regarding his status.
“The situation may have been unclear to people outside, but it’s always been clear internally.”
France will face Croatia in Split before hosting the return leg at the Stade de France three days later.
With a place in the semi-finals at stake, Mbappe’s return is a huge boost for Didier Deschamps’ squad as they aim to reclaim the Nations League title.
