Igho Ogbu marked his recent call-up to the Nigerian national team with a goal as Slavia Prague secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Jablonec on Sunday night.
The defender found the net in the ninth minute, recording his second goal of the season before being substituted just before half-time.
Ogbu’s impact and early substitution
The 24-year-old center-back played a crucial role in Slavia Prague’s strong start, heading in the opening goal early in the contest.
However, his night was cut short in the 39th minute when he was replaced by Štěpán Chaloupek.
Slavia Prague extended their advantage through Tomáš Chorý before Jablonec’s goalkeeper, Jan Hanuš, inadvertently put the ball into his own net, sealing a comprehensive win for the league leaders.
Slavia Prague strengthens League lead
With this latest triumph, Slavia Prague continues to set the pace at the top of the Czech First League table.
The club now sits on 68 points after 26 matches, maintaining its position as the frontrunner in the title race.
Focus shifts to international duty
Following his standout performance, Ogbu is set to link up with the Super Eagles squad in Kigali for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The national team will face Rwanda and Zimbabwe as they aim to secure an early advantage in the qualification campaign.
