Idrissa Gueye signs permanently for Udinese

Senegalese striker Idrissa Gueye has officially completed a permanent move to Udinese Calcio after the Serie A side activated the obligation-to-buy clause included in his loan agreement from FC Metz.

The deal, valued at around €6 million, was automatically triggered under the conditions agreed between the two clubs when Gueye joined Udinese last summer.

The transfer marks another important step in the development of the young Senegal international, who has continued his progression in European football after emerging through the renowned academy of Génération Foot.

Gueye first moved to Metz in January 2025 and quickly made an impact in Ligue 2. The striker scored six goals in 17 appearances and played an important role in helping the French club secure promotion to Ligue 1.

His first season in Italy has been more challenging as he continues adapting to the demands of Serie A. The forward has featured in 22 matches across all competitions for Udinese, although most of his appearances have come from the bench, averaging around 24 minutes per game.

Despite limited playing time, Gueye recently scored his first goal for the Friulian side, a moment viewed as an encouraging sign for both the player and the club as he continues to settle into Italian football.

Udinese’s decision to complete the permanent transfer underlines their confidence in the 19-year-old’s long-term potential, even if he has not yet established himself as a regular starter.

The coming season is now expected to be an important stage in Gueye’s development, with the striker hoping to earn a bigger role within the squad and continue his rise at the highest level of European football.

After impressing in Senegal and France, Gueye now has the opportunity to fully establish himself in Serie A following the confirmation of his permanent move to Udinese.
