Idjessi Metsoko: Dundee United sign Viktoria Plzen striker on season-long loan
Dundee United have completed the loan signing of centre-forward Idjessi Metsoko from Viktoria Plzen for the 2026-27 season. The 24-year-old moves to Tannadice on a temporary deal from the Czech club, with the transfer registered as a loan move.
Metsoko, a France-born forward who holds Togolese and French nationality, joins the Scottish Premiership side after a series of spells in Central and Eastern Europe. He is listed primarily as a centre-forward and arrives with a current market value of 350,000.
The move comes after Metsoko returned to Viktoria Plzen at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, following a loan spell at Slovak club Spartak Trnava. That stint was his second consecutive season on loan in Slovakia, having also spent time with Slovan Bratislava in 2024-25.
Viktoria Plzen first signed Metsoko in February 2024 from Czech side MFK Vyskov, where his market value rose from 100,000 during his time with AJ Auxerres reserve team in France to 300,000 by the end of 2023. His valuation peaked at 750,000 shortly after his move to Plzen in June 2024, before stabilising around its current level following his loan spells in Slovakia.
Before leaving France, Metsoko progressed through AJ Auxerres youth system, moving from the under-17s to the under-19s and then into the B team between 2019 and 2023. His switch to Dundee United marks his first move into Scottish football after developing his career in France, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Metsokos loan is scheduled to run until 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to Viktoria Plzen at the end of his spell with Dundee United.
