Ibrahima Sissoko, the 27-year-old midfielder, delivered a stellar performance in VfL Bochum’s critical 2-0 victory against FC Heidenheim, solidifying his role as a key player in their relegation battle.
Following his exceptional display, head coach Dieter Hecking lavished praise on the Frenchman, who has now become an indispensable asset for the team.
“He played a very good game today. He was the kind of ball-carrier you need,” Hecking remarked with evident satisfaction. “He won his duels even when he was under pressure. That’s enormous and a type of player that we like to see or that I like to have in my team.”
Building on his goal against Union Berlin the previous week, Sissoko showcased his playmaking skills, setting up the crucial opening goal for Broschinski. His synergy with midfield partners Matúš Bero and Anthony Losilla also drew recognition, with Hecking noting their growing cohesion under intense match conditions.
Bochum’s win, their first glimmer of hope in a challenging season, was celebrated with gusto. Yet, with six points keeping them at the bottom of the table, their uphill battle continues against Mainz on January 10.
