Ibrahima Konate has reportedly made up his mind, he will only leave Liverpool for Real Madrid.
The French defender, whose contract with the Reds runs until summer 2026, is said to have halted talks on an extension due to his strong desire to join the Spanish giants.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Konate has informed those close to him that Real Madrid is the only club he sees as the right step forward in his career. The 26-year-old believes the La Liga powerhouse offers the perfect environment for his development.
Konate’s contract situation has raised eyebrows, with a free transfer next summer becoming a real possibility. Though it remains uncertain if Madrid has made a formal approach, the idea of securing a top-class defender without a transfer fee could tempt Europe’s elite.
French champions PSG are also believed to be keeping tabs on the situation.
Konate played a key role in Liverpool’s Premier League-winning campaign last season, further boosting his stock on the European stage.
