Ibrahima Konate praised by Real Madrid and Valencia fans after Mestalla flashpoint

Ibrahima Konate has earned praise from supporters of both Real Madrid and Valencia for the way he handled a heated incident during Real Madrid’s 3-0 La Liga victory at Mestalla.

The French defender intervened in a confrontation between the two teams at half-time, with his conduct in a tense situation attracting admiration from followers of both clubs. The incident was reported by journalist Rodra, with details carried by the website tribuna.

The dispute began after Valencia officials protested against a free-kick awarded against Pablo Maffeo. Real Madrid scored from the move that followed, with Federico Valverde putting the visitors ahead.

Valencia sporting director Braulio Vazquez confronted match officials as tensions rose. Several Real Madrid players then became involved, including Jude Bellingham, Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao.

Security staff eventually intervened to separate those involved. There were also allegations that Rudiger assaulted one of the security guards during the incident, although the referee’s official report did not document the clashes involving the players.

Konate’s response stood out amid the disorder and helped shape the positive reaction to his performance beyond his defensive contribution. The former Liverpool player joined Real Madrid after his contract expired at the end of last season and quickly established himself as a regular under manager Jose Mourinho.

He has formed an impressive central-defensive partnership with Dean Huijsen. Their emergence has resulted in the more experienced Rudiger and Militao being left out of the starting line-up.

The reaction followed a match in which Real Madrid secured a convincing victory at Mestalla, with Valverde’s opening goal coming after the disputed free-kick. The visitors went on to complete a 3-0 win in La Liga.

The fixture information accompanying the report included Tavernes de la Valldigna in the Copa del Rey on 10 November 2026. It also listed Valencia against Real Madrid, followed by Celta Vigo in La Liga on 21 November 2026.
