The negotiations for Ibrahima Conte between Anderlecht and Zulte-Waregem seem to be at a delicate stage. While Anderlecht, eager to bolster their squad, has already put forward an initial offer of €1.5 million, Zulte-Waregem is holding out for a much higher price, around €2.5 million.
The key issue here appears to be the 50% resale clause that Gent is entitled to, which inflates the asking price. This kind of arrangement often complicates transfers, as it effectively means Zulte-Waregem only keeps half of any future transfer fee, so they naturally want to maximize the initial sale price.
At 23 years old and as a Guinean international winger, Conte clearly has good value, and with a contract running until 2017, Zulte-Waregem is in a strong negotiating position. For Anderlecht, it’s a matter of balancing their budget while trying to secure a player they see as a priority.
The situation looks like it will come down to further talks and possibly a compromise on the transfer fee or the structure of the deal (installments, bonuses, etc.). If Anderlecht really want Conte, they may have to come closer to Zulte-Waregem’s valuation or find another creative solution to seal the deal.
