Ibrahim Mugulusi leaves BUL Jinja and becomes free agent after Uganda Premier League stint

Ugandan attacking midfielder Ibrahim Mugulusi has left BUL Jinja to become a free agent after the conclusion of the 2026 Uganda Premier League campaign.

The 28-year-old departs the Jinja-based club on a standard free transfer dated 6 July 2026, ending a six-year spell in the top flight that most recently saw him represent BUL Jinja and previously Busoga United. He is now listed without a club and is able to join a new side outside of a transfer window, subject to registration rules.

Mugulusi, born in Jinja on 22 November 1997, operates primarily as an attacking midfielder. Standing at 1.72m, he has built his career in Ugandan football, moving from Sports Club Villa Jogoo to Busoga United in August 2019 before switching to BUL Jinja in August 2020.

During his time at BUL Jinja, Mugulusis market value rose, most recently being assessed at 150,000 in June 2026, an increase from 125,000 earlier in the year. That valuation underlines his status as one of the more highly regarded creative midfielders emerging from the Uganda Premier League in recent seasons.

Mugulusis departure ends a long association with clubs in his home region, with each of his professional moves to date taking place within Ugandas top division. His new status as a free agent follows the expiry of his latest spell with BUL Jinja, with no transfer fee involved in the move.

The Ugandan international midfielder now awaits the next step in his career after formally leaving BUL Jinja on a free transfer.
