Ibrahim Maza signals Paris Saint-Germain ambition as transfer speculation grows

Ibrahim Maza has said playing for Paris Saint-Germain would be a dream, while reports continue to link the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder with the French club.

The Algeria international told Sky Germany that representing Paris Saint-Germain would be a major career ambition, praising the stature of the club among Europe’s leading teams.

“Of course, it would be a big dream to play one day for such a historic club,” Maza said. “I think we all recognise the greatness of Paris Saint-Germain. It is one of the best clubs in the world, alongside Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal.”

According to Foot Mercato, Maza also said: “Playing for a club like that is a goal I am working towards, as is the case for many footballers.”

His comments come amid reports in the German media that Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring the 20-year-old, who is regarded as one of the emerging attacking talents capable of strengthening the club over the coming years.

However, reports attributed to RMC indicate that Paris Saint-Germain do not currently intend to open negotiations for Maza. His market value is estimated at about 50 million euros by Transfermarkt.

Bayer Leverkusen are also not believed to be ready to consider his departure in the near future. The German club are instead seeking to extend a contract that currently runs until 2030.

Maza’s performances have earned him an increasingly important role at Bayer Leverkusen, with some observers beginning to view him as a potential successor to Florian Wirtz, who is now a Liverpool player.

Bayer Leverkusen are scheduled to face Marseille in the Europa League on 05 November 2026, while Paris Saint-Germain are due to play Troyes in Ligue 1 on 07 November 2026.

Paris Saint-Germain are assessing attacking options partly because Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is expected to be absent for an extended period with a cruciate ligament injury. Despite that, the club’s hierarchy are not thought to be especially keen on signing a replacement during the forthcoming winter transfer window.

Manager Luis Enrique recently said injuries alone would not necessarily force the club to recruit.

“No, not necessarily,” he said. “The absence of injuries does not necessarily mean signing new players. At the start of the season, I said that we were capable of dealing with anything, even if there were serious injuries, but we remain open to the opportunities available.”

Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with Bournemouth’s 20-year-old French striker Eli Junior Kroupi. English reports have suggested the club’s interest in him has been renewed.

Maza and Kroupi therefore remain among the names mentioned in connection with Paris Saint-Germain’s attacking plans, although there is no indication that formal action has been taken to complete either transfer.
