A former France international of Algerian descent, Karim Benzema has reiterated that he believes Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr. should have won the 2024 Ballon d’Or award.
According to him, he was sad when the Real Madrid star missed out on the award last year, stressing that he deserved it.
“I don’t want to talk about France Football… Vinicius played a decisive role in every match of the season when he won the Champions League, and no one deserved the Ballon d’Or more than him,” Karim Benzema said on the show Los amigos de Edu.
The former Ballon d’Or winner continued, “I watch football and see how he does things that only the best can do. I sent him a message when he didn’t win the Ballon d’Or, I was sad.”
Last year, many predicted that Vinicius Jr would win the 2024 Ballon d’Or award.
However, the ceremony saw Rodri of Manchester City named the winner.
