I want to win AFCON 2025 with South Africa – Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane has set an audacious target ahead of the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Bafana Bafana, who secured bronze medal in the last edition are paired in Group B against record winners Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe at the continental showpiece scheduled to take place in Morocco between December 2025 and January 2026.
Zwane out injured for a reasonable period, undermining his chances of making the cut for the impending tournament.
As indicated earlier, Hugo Broos may do without the injury-prone Zwane in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations.
But Zwane has listed his goals which include not only going but also winning the AFCON title with the Bafana Bafana.
“Now, at club level, obviously, I just want to win all the trophies that are remaining,” Zwane told iDiski Times.
And the most important and contribute for my team. And obviously, the biggest one that we want, ‘the Champions League.
“And obviously internationally, to go to the AFCON and win the AFCON and again, go to the World Cup in June and be there for the national team and try to contribute and push ourselves and do as best as we can.”
Having finished third in the previous edition, the Bafana Bafana will be hoping to make a meaningful impact in the 35th edition. South Africa will open their AFCON account against powerhouse, Egypt on December 26, 2025.
