Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah has revealed his determination to achieve something extraordinary for Liverpool as he enters the final stretch of his contract with the club.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports News, the 32-year-old forward expressed his ambition to win the Premier League for the Reds, a goal driven by a mix of unfinished business and a heartfelt desire to give back to the city and its people.
“In my interviews over the last seven or eight years, I always say [I want to win the] Champions League. But this is the first time I’m saying I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool,” Salah shared, signalling a shift in his priorities.
Salah, now in the last six months of his current deal, is free to discuss terms with overseas clubs. Despite the inevitable speculation about his future, his focus remains firmly on Liverpool’s success in the 2024/25 season.
Reflecting on why domestic success has taken precedence, Salah explained, “I have no idea. It’s probably because we didn’t celebrate the one we won in the way we wanted and also, coming back here too, it’s my last year in the club so you want to do something special for the city.”
The Premier League triumph Salah referred to is Liverpool’s historic 2019/20 season, which ended their 30-year wait for a league title.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic curtailed the celebrations, leaving a lingering sense of incompleteness for the team and its supporters.
Salah’s time at Liverpool has been nothing short of extraordinary. Since joining the club in 2017, he has amassed numerous accolades, including Premier League, Champions League, and domestic cup victories, while establishing himself as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.
