Austrian midfielder of Nigerian descent, Carney Chukwuemeka, has opened up about his first goal for Borussia Dortmund.
The youngster scored for Dortmund on Saturday, helping the side to hammer SC Freiburg 4-1 in the German Bundesliga.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Carney Chukwuemeka revealed that he thought he had missed the chance.
“It was three important points against a rival in terms of league position. I honestly thought that I had missed the chance with my first touch. By the grace of God, the ball went in. I’m grateful for that,” Chukwuemeka said in an interview with BVB-TV.
Carney Chukwuemeka is on loan at Borussia Dortmund from English Premier League side Chelsea.
Dortmund could sign the midfielder on a permanent basis at the end of the loan deal for a fee of €35 million.
Already, there are reports of Dortmund officials being interested in triggering the option for a permanent signing.
A decision will be taken at the end of the season.
