Karim Adeyemi found the net in Borussia Dortmund’s 1-1 draw against Lille but was left unsatisfied with the result, believing his team fell short of their best performance.
The first leg of the Champions League round of 16 saw Dortmund take the lead through Adeyemi’s clinical finish, only for Lille to respond and deny them a crucial advantage heading into the second leg. Despite moments of promise, the German side struggled to impose their dominance.
“It was a difficult game. I think we didn’t show our best game or what we wanted to do,” Adeyemi told Amazon Prime Video. “It may have been a bit unclean generally from the team, and that’s why it was simply difficult to get goals. (…) We have to win here, here at home. The fans burned for it, and yes, actually a shame about the 1-1, but as I said, it goes on.”
Adeyemi acknowledged his goal but made it clear that personal success meant little without victory. “It was good. Well that it went in, but not satisfied because we didn’t win,” he added.
Dortmund now faces a must-win battle in the second leg to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
