Former Moroccan international and current president of the Moroccan Professional Players Association, Mustapha El Haddaoui, has voiced his support for compatriot Achraf Hakimi in the race for the Ballon d’Or.
Speaking from Cairo, where he is attending a meeting of the African Players Association, El Haddaoui praised the Paris Saint-Germain star’s exceptional achievements.
In an exclusive interview with Kooora on Thursday, El Haddaoui said: “Hakimi is a legend, and his numbers speak for themselves.
“In my career, I have never seen a player with his profile, a defender with such outstanding offensive contributions. With 17 titles in his European career, he has truly reached legendary status.”
He added: “Having a player of Hakimi’s calibre is a tremendous source of pride for Moroccan football, and indeed for African football as a whole. I sincerely hope he wins the Ballon d’Or, which would make him only the second African to claim the honour after George Weah.”
