Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze has shared his emotions after scoring the decisive goal in the club’s historic FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City on Saturday.
Eze, who has Nigerian heritage, netted the only goal of the match in the 16th minute, connecting with a precise cross from Daniel Munoz to fire Palace into the lead.
It marked a significant moment for both the player and the club, as they lifted their first FA Cup trophy in their 118-year history.
Despite being heavily outplayed for much of the match, with just 22% possession and only seven shots to City’s 19, Palace managed to withstand intense pressure to secure the shock win.
Reflecting on the game, Eze said, “I just couldn’t breathe. They keep the ball so well, you have to work so hard to get anything from them.”
The midfielder, who has been in exceptional form this season, acknowledged the importance of making the most of their limited opportunities against a dominant City side.
“When you get up there, you have to take the chances and make it count,” he added.
The victory caps a remarkable season for Eze and Crystal Palace, whose resilience and clinical finishing helped them secure one of the biggest upsets in recent FA Cup history.
