I have been ‘thrown under the bus’ by Liverpool; I have no relationship with Arne Slot – Mohamed Salah
Egypt legend, Mohamed Salah, has shockingly accused Liverpool of throwing him under the bus, and has stressed that someone wants me out of the club.
Salah was unused in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw at Leeds on Saturday afternoon at Elland Road.
Speaking to journalists in the mixed zone, the former Chelsea and AS Roma forward accused the Reds hierarchy of breaking promises in the summer after he signed a new two-year £42million contract in April.
Salah did not name boss Arne Slot by name, though he claimed someone up high wants him out of Merseyside.
In an astonishing interview, Salah said: “I don’t know what to say. It’s funny, but I couldn’t believe it.
“It is a very disappointing result for us as a team.
“We expect to win that. We managed to score two goals in the beginning.
“The game was going in our direction.
“We conceded silly goals. Same as we did before while I was playing.
“So I am not attacking my teammates or something because I am on the bench.
“So we have to try to keep the clean sheets and win games.
“I can’t believe I am sitting on the bench for 90 minutes.
“I think it is the third time I’m on the bench, I think it is the first time in my career.
“I am very disappointed, I am very disappointed.
“I have done so much for the club, everybody can see that during the years, especially last season.
“To sit on the bench, I don’t know why.
“It seems like the club have thrown me under the bus, that is how I feel it.
“I think it’s very clear that someone wants me to get all the blame.
“It seems like the club is throwing me under the bus. That’s how I feel.”
“The club promised in the summer, a lot of promise for me, and so far, I am on the bench for three games.
“All I can say is keep the promises.
“I had good relations with the manager, and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationships.
“I don’t know why. It seems to be me, how I see it, someone doesn’t want me at the club
“Again, this club, I will always support it. My kids always support, I love the club. I will always do.
“I called my mum. I knew (I would stop for the press). I told them, come to the Brighton game, it doesn’t matter if I play or not, I am going to enjoy it. We will see what will happen.
“In my head, I will go to enjoy that game, if I play or not or on the bench, I don’t know what will happen.
“I will be at Anfield, say good to the fans, and go to the African Cup
“I don’t know what will happen when I am there.
“It’s not acceptable for me to be fair. I don’t know why this happened to me. I don’t get it.
“If I am somewhere else, every club would protect the player. I don’t know why I am in this situation now. I don’t think I am the problem. I have done so much for this club.
“The respect I want to get. I don’t have to go every day fighting for my position. Because I earned it. I am not bigger (than Liverpool). I earned my position. It’s football.”
He said: “I’m very, very disappointed. I have done so much for this club. Everybody can see that during the years and especially last season.
“It seems like the club is throwing me under the bus. That’s how I feel.
“It’s very clear that someone wants me to get all the blame.
“It seems to me someone doesn’t want me in the club.”
“I said many times before I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why.
“It seems like someone doesn’t want me in the club.
“It’s not acceptable for me. I don’t know why that always happened to me. I don’t get it.
“I think if was somewhere else the club will protect its player.
“I don’t know why I’m in that situation now, but again, it’s how I see it; it’s like you throw him under the bus because he’s a problem in the team now, but I don’t think I’m the problem.
“I have done so much for this club to get the respect I want to get, and I don’t have to go every day fighting for my position because I earn it.
“People will say you are not bigger than I’m not bigger than anyone. I’m just earn I earn my position. This is football.
“I don’t believe it. I’ve been in this club scoring more than anyone in this generation.
“The club promised in the summer, a lot of promise for me, and so far, I am on the bench for three games.”
“I would say since I came to the Premier League, I don’t think anybody scored more goals than me or assisted in the whole Premier League. And if I’m in somewhere else, everybody will go to the media and defend the players. I’m the only one is not in that situation.
“I remembered a while ago Harry Kane was not scoring for I think 10 games and scored one two goals. Everyone in the media, everybody in the media was like, “Oh, Harry will score for sure.” When it comes to Mo, he needs to be on the bench.
“I had a meeting with the manager. He knows my feelings.
“I thought I’m going to renew here and end my career here, but this is not according to the plan.”
Meanwhile, Salah will soon reunite with his Egyptian national team as they prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament later this month.
