Tottenham Hotspur’s recent acquisition, Kevin Danso, has had a unique journey to the Premier League.

Born in Austria to Ghanaian parents, Danso moved to England at six, where he excelled in both football and rugby during his youth. Reflecting on his early athletic career, Danso shared, “I had a few scholarship offers for rugby clubs, for private schools as well.” Faced with a pivotal decision, he ultimately chose football over rugby, considering the increasing injury risks associated with the latter.

Danso began his football journey in the academies of Reading and Milton Keynes Dons before moving to Germany to join FC Augsburg’s youth setup in 2014. He made his Bundesliga debut in March 2017 at 18, becoming Augsburg’s youngest league debutant. After stints with Southampton and Fortuna Düsseldorf, Danso transferred to French club RC Lens in 2021, where he played a crucial role in their impressive second-place finish in Ligue 1 during the 2022–23 season.

In February 2025, Danso joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan, with an obligation to buy at season’s end. He made his debut on February 6 in a challenging EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool at Anfield, where Spurs suffered a 4–0 defeat. Despite the setback, Danso remained optimistic, expressing his commitment to adapting to the Premier League’s demands.

Reflecting on his time at MK Dons, Danso recalled playing alongside notable talents like Dele Alli, stating, “Every MK Dons player wants to be as big as Dele Alli was here. He’s a great player, a great person, and I wish him all the best.” Danso aspires to emulate Alli’s success as he embarks on his journey with Tottenham.
