Al-Ahly head coach Jose Riveiro believes he’s on a special mission as he leads the Egyptian giants into uncharted waters at the Club World Cup, set to begin Saturday against Inter Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Riveiro shared his thoughts on the tournament.
“I’m coaching a great team and I feel like I’m on a historic job in my coaching career.
“Al-Ahly is a very big name and of a special nature, and we have great challenges in the Club World Cup, ready to write history.”
This year’s edition marks the tournament’s first with 32 teams, showcasing the best from every continent. Al Ahly are focused on advancing beyond the group stage.
“Inter Miami have players with a lot of experience, a team with a lot of ambitions, but we will do everything we can to win and improve our chances of qualifying for the next round.” he added.
Defender Ashraf Dari also emphasized the team’s determination to perform and honor Al Ahly’s proud legacy on the global stage.
