Amad Diallo has expressed his determination to become one of the best players in the world as he continues to develop at Manchester United.
The 22-year-old Ivory Coast international, who has emerged as a key figure under new manager Ruben Amorim, shared his aspirations in a recent interview.
Diallo has had a breakthrough season, earning more playing time after initially struggling for minutes under former boss Erik ten Hag.
The winger made 12 appearances last season, including a memorable 120th-minute FA Cup quarter-final winner against Liverpool, which helped cement his place as a fan favourite.
Reflecting on his progress, Diallo credited Ten Hag for his early guidance.
“Honestly, Erik helped me a lot. He was giving me a lot of advice, even when I wasn’t playing. He was telling me to train very hard every time. That’s the most important thing when a manager keeps telling you to train hard, even if you don’t play,” Diallo said.
However, the Ivorian is now flourishing under Amorim, who has placed significant trust in his abilities.
Despite the occasional frustration of limited game time, Diallo believes his potential is limitless and remains confident in his future at Old Trafford.
“I need the game time to show I can play for this club. In that moment, I was a little bit frustrated because you can understand sometimes maybe you deserve to play and you don’t play.
“But I think now it’s because the manager believes in me. He believes in my potential. I’m trying to repay his confidence every time I’m on the pitch,” he added.
Diallo’s ambitions will be put to the test when United face Tottenham in a crucial Europa League final on Wednesday, a match the winger will be keen to play a leading role in after missing out on two previous finals.
