Hull City have finalised the signing of Moroccan international Reda Laalaoui from Fath Union Sports (FUS) Rabat, following a series of prolonged negotiations with the Moroccan club.
The Championship side succeeded in sealing the deal for the 23-year-old midfielder after weeks of discussions and persistent interest. Laalaoui had attracted attention from multiple European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, but it was Hull who ultimately convinced FUS Rabat to part with their highly regarded talent.
Talks between the two clubs began several weeks ago, with Hull City initially submitting an offer of €250,000. That proposal was initially turned down by the Moroccan club, who described the fee as insufficient and set a valuation closer to €500,000 for the player.
Despite the initial rejection, both parties remained in contact, and a compromise was eventually reached.
In the end, FUS Rabat agreed to accept Hull City’s original €250,000 offer, but only after negotiating a significant sell-on clause. Under the terms of the final agreement, the Moroccan club will receive 40% of any future transfer fee should Laalaoui be sold on to another club within the next four years.
Speaking to Africafoot, an unnamed official from FUS Rabat confirmed the details of the transaction: “We have agreed to let Reda Laalaoui go to Hull City for €250,000.
The contract includes a clause that entitles us to 40% of any future sale involving the player over the next four years.”
Laalaoui’s move marks a significant step in his career, having made his name in the Moroccan Botola Pro League as a versatile and technically sound midfielder.
Known for his vision and ball control, he was a central figure at FUS Rabat and has also earned international recognition with Morocco.
For Hull City, the signing adds depth and creativity to their midfield as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The club will be hoping Laalaoui adapts quickly to the demands of English football and contributes to their ambitions of promotion from the Championship.
The transfer also highlights Hull’s growing commitment to scouting and recruiting from less traditional football markets.
In recent years, the East Yorkshire club has increasingly looked beyond Western Europe to find emerging talent capable of making an impact in the English game.
While the financial terms of the deal represent a relatively modest investment by Championship standards, the inclusion of the resale clause reflects FUS Rabat’s belief in Laalaoui’s long-term potential and value on the European stage.
The Moroccan midfielder is expected to link up with his new teammates in the coming weeks as Hull begin their preparations for the 2024–25 campaign.
His arrival brings further excitement to the Tigers’ fanbase, who will be eager to see how the club’s latest international acquisition performs in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
Reda Laalaoui’s journey from Rabat to Hull marks the beginning of a new chapter—both for the player himself and for a club aiming to return to the Premier League.
