Hull City midfielder Eliot Matazo will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the match against Cardiff City in the English Championship.
The Belgian-Congolese, who joined the Tigers in January, sustained the injury in the first half of the fixture.
The 23-year-old had made an immediate impact at the club, featuring in six matches and marking his home debut with a goal against Stoke City.
Matazo’s absence represents a setback for Hull City, as his dynamic performances had quickly made him an integral part of the squad.
The club expressed its disappointment but reaffirmed its unwavering support for the player throughout his recovery.
“Hull City will provide full backing to Eliot during his rehabilitation,” a club statement read.
“His dedication and attitude since joining the club have been exemplary, and we are confident he will return stronger next season.”
Matazo will now embark on a lengthy recovery process, with the focus on returning to full fitness ahead of the next campaign.
