With Omar Marmoush departing, Eintracht Frankfurt’s offensive spotlight turns to Hugo Ekitiké, who seems prepared to shoulder the burden.
Head coach Dino Toppmöller firmly believes the 22-year-old Frenchman is ready to embrace this elevated role.
“Of course he will have to take on more responsibility by the departure, and it looks like this and feels like that he is ready for it,” Toppmöller shared ahead of Frankfurt’s clash with TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday.
Ekitiké has been pivotal in recent matches, scoring in Frankfurt’s 2-0 victories over Borussia Dortmund and Ferencvárosi TC in the Europa League. While his technical precision was occasionally lacking, his exceptional touch during his goal showcased his attacking prowess.
Toppmöller highlighted Ekitiké’s defensive contributions as equally important, emphasizing that his defensive commitment sets the foundation for his offensive success. “He is primarily in advance. I also told him that today in front of the team that he is doing it top at the moment and that the key is.”
With his current trajectory, Toppmöller sees Ekitiké as being on a “top path” and fully ready to lead Frankfurt’s attack in the coming fixtures.
