Algerian midfielder Houssem Aouar revealed that working under his current coach at Al Ittihad, Sergio Conceicao, is challenging but also praised the Portuguese manager’s high standards.

Aouar joined the Saudi side from Roma in summer 2024 and quickly became an essential figure.

Reflecting on his journey, Aouar shared in an interview with French YouTuber Zack Nani: “I enjoyed working with Blanc, my relationship with him and his staff was truly exceptional because everyone spoke French like me. When I arrived in Jeddah, I felt almost like I was still in France with so many French speakers.”

On Conceição’s methods, Aouar stated, “He is a great coach, but it’s not easy working with him. Training is intense and requires double the effort, but we’re all trying to adapt.”

Aouar admitted the club’s start was shaky and they are still on a journey to improve. He also revealed, “Karim Benzema called me during Al Ittihad’s negotiations and convinced me to come play in the Saudi league. I wanted to play alongside him, his presence was a top reason I accepted the offer.”

Aouar credits local players and especially Saad Al Mousa for helping him adapt. He expressed confidence about overcoming challenges, emphasizing the need for unity and strong management as Al Ittihad pushes through relentless competition this season.
