Egypt legendary striker Hossam Hassan was recently appointed head coach of the national team as he lands the job after the Pharaohs’ abysmal showing at the AFCON 2023.
The former Al Ahly player has harboured that ambition for a long time till the departure of Portuguese trainer Rui Vitoria, who was dismissed after the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
Hassan now takes over to rebuild the team following the failure in the just ended Africa Cup of Nations, where the Pharaohs exited at the Round of 16 stage without recording a single win.
“It is with immense honour to lead the Egyptian national team and bring joy to the Egyptian people,” Hassan said
“I had always hoped to one day to be in the position of coaching Egypt and I am delighted to have receive this appointment from the Egyptian people, the political leadership and the will of the Egyptian Football Association.
“I witnessed the great stature and significance of Egypt while interacting with African Legends and officials of various footballassociations. We are giants in the continent, and the greatness must always be maintained.
“I bear great responsibility toward the Egyptian people, and it is a great honour to have the trust of the fans and their desire for me to hold this position. I promise to exert maximum effort to achieve success in Egyptian football.
The Egypt national team all-time top scorer has expressed his optimism of seeing patriotic elements on the field as he charged for support not just for himself but the entire Egypt country as a whole.
“Our success will only come through the unity of everyone, starting from the fans whose unwavering support stems from their immense love for their country. I hope for the collaboration of the media and the administration.
