Egyptian national team coach, Hossam Hassan, anticipates a formidable challenge as his side prepares to face New Zealand in the upcoming “Capital of Egypt” friendly football tournament.
In a press conference held on Wednesday evening, Hossam Hassan expressed his surprise at the strength and organization of the New Zealand team, emphasizing their technical prowess and the quality of players plying their trade in Europe.
“New Zealand is a remarkable team known for their proficiency in set-pieces. They bear resemblance to West African teams like Burkina Faso, adopting an English-style tactical approach, heavily relying on midfield trios and exploiting the full-backs’ runs, particularly the left-back who plays in the Italian league,” remarked Hassan.
Highlighting the significance of the forthcoming match, Hassan described it as a valuable and challenging experience, expressing his team’s ambition to secure victory and advance to the final.
“The friendly tournament holds multifaceted importance. It serves as a crucial opportunity for collaboration between the coaching staff and players.
Moreover, it stands as the sole preparation for our upcoming World Cup qualifying matches in June,” he added.
Regarding the tournament’s role in team development, Hassan stressed its vital contribution to enhancing cohesion and morale within the squad.
He commended the enthusiasm and high spirits displayed by both local and professional players, affirming that the national team’s doors remain open to any player demonstrating technical and physical readiness.
