HNK Rijeka have intensified their efforts to secure the signing of Malian winger Sékou Sanogo, who has attracted significant attention following his impressive performances for Hrvatski Dragovoljac.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most sought-after young talents in Croatian football, with multiple clubs closely monitoring his progress.
According to reports from Africasoccer, Rijeka, currently among the top three clubs in the Croatian top flight, have already tabled an offer in the region of €200,000 in an attempt to land the promising attacker.
Negotiations Underway for Summer Transfer
Discussions are ongoing between Rijeka’s management, Hrvatski Dragovoljac, and Sanogo’s representatives, with the aim of finalizing a deal during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Malian winger, who remains under contract with Hrvatski Dragovoljac until June 2026, is reportedly eager to take the next step in his career and compete at a higher level.
While Rijeka have shown the most concrete interest, they face stiff competition from other Croatian top-flight clubs. Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split, Lokomotiva Zagreb, NK Istra, and HNK Gorica are all keeping a close eye on the young winger’s situation, while second-division sides Opatija and NK Dubrava are also reportedly considering a move.
Sanogo’s Impressive Rise in Croatian Football
Sanogo, a versatile winger capable of playing on either flank, has been a standout performer for Hrvatski Dragovoljac in the Croatian third division this season.
In 15 league appearances, he has registered one goal, further solidifying his reputation as a rising star.
The Malian U21 international, who honed his skills at the Africa Foot Academy in Bamako, is seen as a player with significant potential, and his performances have not gone unnoticed by some of Croatia’s biggest clubs.
With Rijeka pushing hard to finalize a deal, it remains to be seen whether they will fend off competition from domestic rivals and secure Sanogo’s signature ahead of the new season.
