‘He’s giving Bayern exactly what we need’ – Eberl hails Nicolas Jackson’s selfless impact at Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has praised on-loan striker Nicolas Jackson for his selfless contribution to the team despite his lack of Bundesliga goals.
The Senegalese forward, who joined from Chelsea on a season-long loan, has scored twice in the Champions League but is yet to open his account in the domestic competition.
His work rate and discipline, however, have earned plaudits from the Bayern hierarchy.
Speaking after Bayern’s hard-fought win over Borussia Mönchengladbach, where Jackson started and was substituted just before the hour mark, Eberl said the forward’s impact goes beyond statistics.
“The space was extremely tight for the strikers,” Eberl said.
“When you play around the penalty area like that, there’s little room. And yet, Nicolas was one of the players who had the patience to turn the game around today.”
Eberl added that Jackson’s willingness to put the team first embodies the mentality Bayern demand from every player.
“He has put himself at the service of the team. That’s exactly what we need — patience, discipline, and team spirit.”
Jackson’s adaptation to life in the Bundesliga has been closely monitored, with Bayern seeking attacking consistency following injuries to key forwards.
Although he has yet to score in league play, his ability to stretch defences and press opponents has been vital to Thomas Tuchel’s tactical setup.
Bayern remain confident that Jackson’s breakthrough is imminent, pointing to his composure and intelligence in tight spaces as indicators of his potential.
Eberl’s endorsement reflects a broader sense of satisfaction within the club over the striker’s attitude and development.
