‘He’s a great goalscorer’ – Virgil van Dijk praises Liverpool teammate Alexander Isak

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has heaped praise on new teammate Alexander Isak, describing him as a great goalscorer.

Isak signed for Liverpool from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window and is expected to lead the line for the Reds.

For Virgil van Dijk, Alexander Isak is currently the perfect striker.

“He’s a great goalscorer. If you look at his finishing ability – headers, left foot, corners – he’s the perfect striker right now,” the Dutch attacker said.

He continued, “The same goes for Hugo Ekitike . They differ slightly, but not drastically; both are very confident on the ball, play well together, and are fast—exactly what you want from a modern striker. Both are real challenges, and I’m glad they’re on my side now.”

Alexander Isak is expected to feature for Liverpool in their UEFA Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

Having joined the English club with a lot of expectations, the Swedish striker of Eritrean descent will need to prove himself.
