Hendry Blank leaves Salzburg for Greuther Furth in Bundesliga 2 loan move

German-Ghanaian defender Hendry Blank has joined Greuther Furth from Salzburg on loan, completing his move to the 2. Bundesliga club on 1 September 2026.

The 22-year-old centre-back will remain with Furth until 30 June 2027, when he is scheduled to return to Salzburg. Blank is a left-footed defender who stands 1.90m tall and will wear the Furth colours during the 2026-27 campaign.

Blank arrives in Germany after spending the previous season on loan at Hannover 96. That spell ended on 30 June, allowing him to return to Salzburg before making another temporary move, this time to Furth.

The defender joined Salzburg from Borussia Dortmund II in February 2024 in a €4m transfer. He had progressed through Dortmund’s youth system after beginning his development at Bayer Leverkusen, moving from Leverkusen’s youth set-up to Dortmund in 2019.

Blank made his way through Dortmund’s age-group teams, representing the club’s under-17 and under-19 sides before stepping up to Borussia Dortmund II. During his time with Dortmund Under-19, he was part of the side that won the German Under-19 Bundesliga title in 2021-22 and the German Under-19 Bundesliga West championship in 2021-22 and 2022-23.

His move to Furth takes him from Salzburg’s Bundesliga environment into Germany’s second tier. Furth compete in the 2. Bundesliga, while Salzburg’s first team play in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Blank’s latest transfer comes at a market value of €1.2m. His current campaign record shows that he had not yet made an appearance for Salzburg before completing the move, with no appearances recorded in the Bundesliga, Europa League qualifying or the Austrian Cup.

The player’s career has so far included development in Germany, a €4m move to Austria and loan spells with Hannover 96 and now Greuther Furth. His switch to Furth was completed on 1 September 2026 and is registered as a loan transfer through to the end of June 2027.
