Liverpool’s defensive midfielder Fabinho has expressed confidence that star forward Mohamed Salah will remain at Anfield, dispelling any notions of a potential January transfer to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, despite their £150 million bid during the summer.
Fabinho, who himself made a move to Al-Ittihad for £40 million after Liverpool accepted the bid, believes Salah is content at Liverpool, and the Egyptian international is an integral part of the team’s ongoing success.
Addressing the speculation surrounding Salah’s future, Fabinho assured fans during an interview with talkSPORT, stating, “At this moment, Mo Salah is happy at Liverpool.
He’s scoring goals every game and he has been their best player. I’m very happy for Mo. This season he will stay at Liverpool, so I wish him all the best and hope he keeps scoring goals and winning trophies with Liverpool.”
Salah’s potential departure could have seen him reunited with Fabinho in Saudi Arabia, but it appears the forward is committed to continuing his impressive form with Liverpool.
Despite Fabinho’s departure, Liverpool has navigated the season adeptly, recruiting four new midfielders under manager Jurgen Klopp’s strategic rebuilding efforts.
Fabinho, while no longer a part of the squad, expressed delight at Liverpool’s current standing atop the league table and their pursuit of trophies.
“I’m really happy for the boys,” Fabinho stated. “At the moment, they are top of the league. Of course, there is still much to play in the Premier League, and there are some clubs next to them like Arsenal, Man City, even Aston Villa. They are doing very well this season.”
Fabinho acknowledged the competitive nature of the league but commended Liverpool’s focus and winning mentality, highlighting their ability to secure victories even in the dying minutes of matches.
As the Reds strive for championship success, Fabinho remains supportive of his former teammates’ pursuit of excellence.
