Former Anzhi Makhachkala teammate and coach Roberto Carlos has criticized Samuel Eto’o in an interview with Brazilian media Globoesporte. Carlos described Eto’o as a tyrant and selfish, suggesting that the Cameroonian interfered with his work, wanted to control the club, and prioritized personal interests over the group. Carlos mentioned that Eto’o’s focus on recruiting and favoring friends over playing football created confusion and strangeness at Anzhi. Eto’o left Anzhi in the summer as the club underwent downsizing measures, including reducing high salaries.
