Former Châteauroux youth coach Sébastien Dubroca believes Ange-Yoan Bonny has what it takes to reach the same heights as Marcus Thuram following his transfer to Inter Milan.
Bonny, who is of Ivorian descent but represents France internationally, completed a move from Parma to the Italian giants last week in a deal reportedly worth €25 million.
The 20-year-old striker impressed at Parma, earning a reputation as one of the most promising attacking talents in Serie B.
Dubroca, who worked closely with Bonny during his formative years, welcomed the move and expressed confidence in the player’s long-term potential.
“His arrival at Inter is certainly an important step in his career, which will now take a new direction,” he told Tuttosport.
“He performed well and made a name for himself at Parma, and it was a given that he could aspire to a place at a top-tier club.”
While comparisons have been drawn with Inter and France forward Marcus Thuram, Dubroca cautioned that Bonny should focus on his own identity.
“He simply has to be Bonny. Of course, I hope he can reach Thuram’s level; he certainly has the ability,” he said.
He also praised the striker’s temperament and attitude, highlighting his humility despite rapid career progress.
“Yoan has always maintained his positive mentality. It’s always a pleasure to interact with him; he’s a guy who doesn’t forget where he comes from. I wish him every success in this new project.”
Bonny’s arrival adds further depth to Inter Milan’s frontline as they prepare to defend their Serie A title in the 2025–26 season.
The club sees him as a long-term investment with potential to break into the first team over time.
