Egypt midfielder Hamdy Fathi has returned to Al Wakrah training as he continues his recovery from a nose injury.
The 31-year-old underwent surgery on his nose several days ago after being injured before the current international break. He joined his club-mates in training on Sunday evening wearing a protective mask.
Fathi missed Egypt’s camp during the international break because of the injury, which he suffered while playing for Al Wakrah against Al Sailiya in the Qatar Cup shortly before the break.
Egypt national team director Ibrahim Hassan confirmed the midfielder’s absence, saying: “Hamdy Fathi suffered an injury with his club Al Wakrah, which confirmed that he would miss the national team camp.”
The former Al Ahly player has won 67 international caps for Egypt and scored three goals. He was also among the key players involved in the 2026 World Cup.
