Hakim Ziyech could be on the verge of a return to the Moroccan national team after several months away from international duty.
The 30-year-old winger, who recently joined Qatari club Al Duhail SC, has yet to start a match for his new side but has already made an impact in his limited appearances.
Gradual return to form
Since moving to Al Duhail at the end of January, Ziyech has been carefully managed by head coach Christophe Galtier.
Having endured a difficult spell at Galatasaray before his transfer to Qatar, the Moroccan international is being eased back into regular action.
In his most recent appearance against Al Sadd on Saturday, Ziyech came off the bench with 21 minutes remaining and provided an assist, despite his team suffering a 2-0 defeat.
His influence in that short period has not gone unnoticed, particularly by Morocco’s head coach, Walid Regragui.
National team comeback on the horizon?
Regragui was present in the stands for Al Duhail’s match, fueling speculation that Ziyech could be recalled to the national squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The playmaker has not featured for the Atlas Lions since August, but with crucial fixtures against Niger and Tanzania approaching in March, his return could provide a significant boost to the team.
While no official confirmation has been made regarding his selection, Ziyech’s recent performances suggest he is regaining form and fitness.

His experience and creativity have been vital for Morocco in the past, and if recalled, he could play a key role in their World Cup qualification campaign.
A key decision for Morocco
With Morocco aiming to secure a place in the 2026 World Cup, Regragui’s squad selection will be closely watched.
If Ziyech is included, it would mark an important step in his reintegration into the national team setup.
For now, all eyes will be on Regragui’s final squad announcement, as Moroccan fans await the possible return of one of their most talented players.
