Haise says ‘happy’ Ait Boudlal has no plans to leave Rennes despite Fulham interest

Frank Haise has moved to end speculation over Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal’s future by insisting the Rennes defender is not available for transfer this summer.

The 20-year-old Morocco international has attracted several offers in recent weeks, including a formal proposal from Fulham for his services during the current summer transfer window.

According to Foot Mercato, Ait Boudlal is open to the possibility of moving to the Premier League and would welcome a switch to England this summer. However, Rennes manager Haise has made clear that the club does not intend to allow the young defender to leave.

Speaking at a news conference, Haise said: “There is no problem, at least he has not spoken to me about them (the offers). He is happy here, he has a two-year contract, and we are counting on him.”

The manager’s comments represent Rennes’ clearest public response yet to the interest in Ait Boudlal. They also underline the club’s intention to retain a player who featured regularly for them last season.

Ait Boudlal made 21 appearances for Rennes during the previous campaign. Although he was not selected by Morocco for the most recent World Cup, he remains regarded as one of the leading candidates for this year’s Golden Boy award.

The defender developed through the Mohammed VI Academy before progressing into senior football with Rennes. His performances have now brought attention from abroad, with Fulham submitting an official offer and the player reportedly receptive to the prospect of playing in England.

For now, though, Haise’s position is unequivocal. Rennes believe Ait Boudlal is settled at the club, have two years remaining on his contract and see him as part of their plans. The French side’s stance means any potential move to Fulham would require a significant change in the situation before the summer window closes.

The interest comes at an important stage in Ait Boudlal’s development. His involvement in 21 matches last season has helped raise his profile, while his background at the Mohammed VI Academy and his consideration for the Golden Boy award have further highlighted his status among the emerging players of his age group.

Despite those factors, Haise says the immediate priority is continuity rather than a transfer. Rennes’ manager has indicated that the current relationship between the player and the club remains positive, and that the French side are relying on Ait Boudlal for the future.
