Nantes’ bid to bring Habib Beye on board as their new manager has crumbled, leaving the Ligue 1 side in managerial limbo.
Reports from Presse-Océan and L’Equipe confirm that talks between the former Senegal international and Les Canaris collapsed after hitting a roadblock over staffing disagreements.
Beye, celebrated for guiding Red Star to Ligue 2 promotion this year, was poised to replace Antoine Kombouaré after Nantes’ failed attempt to lure Sergio Conceição back for a second stint. Despite reaching the brink of an agreement that would see him take charge until the season’s end, discussions unraveled.
The key sticking point? Beye’s preferred coaching team. Former Real Madrid fitness coach Grégory Dupont declined the offer, and Beye’s efforts to secure Red Star goalkeeping coach Faouzi Amzal also fell through. Other names proposed by Beye failed to impress the Nantes hierarchy, who ultimately decided to pull the plug.
With no clear contingency plan, Nantes’ search for a manager drags on, casting doubt on their direction as they battle to steer clear of the Ligue 1 drop zone.
