Habib Beye is growing increasingly impatient as he waits for his expected appointment as Olympique Marseille head coach, with the Franco-Senegalese manager already picturing himself on the OM bench.
According to L’Equipe, he still has administrative details to resolve with Rennes, but behind the scenes he has been enthusiastically talking up Marseille’s potential and the quality of the squad, while underlining his own ambitions.
Beye’s camp is confident the move will happen. His agents and lawyer enjoy excellent relations with club president Pablo Longoria, a factor seen as key to smoothing negotiations and accelerating the process.
The former defender, who knows the club and its environment well, believes he is ready to succeed Roberto De Zerbi and lead a new cycle at the Velodrome.
A decisive meeting is scheduled for this Saturday, with owner Franck McCourt present in Marseille to help finalise the appointment.
If all goes to plan, Beye could soon be officially confirmed as De Zerbi’s successor, stepping into one of French football’s most demanding and passionate jobs at a moment of transition for Olympique Marseille.
