Guy Roux Suffers On-Set Injury Before France 2 Talk Show Appearance
Veteran football coach Guy Roux endured a frightful moment while preparing to appear on France 2’s talk show On n’est pas couché, after suffering a facial injury just moments before filming began.
The incident occurred during the show’s pre-recording session. According to reports, Roux missed a step while approaching the stage and struck a glass-topped music stand, resulting in a 3 to 4-centimeter cut to his cheek. The unexpected fall briefly left him on the ground, prompting swift assistance from fellow guests, including Olympic judo champion Teddy Riner and actor Stéphane De Groodt.
A close associate recounted the scene: “Guy Roux was lying on the floor for a few moments. He was taken to the dressing room for treatment. A doctor was called immediately.”
Show host Laurent Ruquier also left the set to check on Roux, later reassuring the audience that the beloved coach was in stable condition. Remarkably, Roux returned to the set just ten minutes after the incident, this time taking extra care with each step.
Although he avoided stitches, the 85-year-old held a cloth to his cheek throughout the episode to manage the bleeding. One backstage observer noted, “He stayed until the end of the show. At one point, while another guest was speaking, someone even splinted his fingers off-camera—with Teddy Riner giving the medic a few tips.”
Despite the drama, the footage of the accident will not be broadcast when the show airs. Roux’s poise and perseverance drew admiration from the production crew and fellow guests alike, once again proving his resilience—on and off the pitch.
On n’est pas couché airs this evening on France 2, though without the harrowing incident that briefly overshadowed the night.
