Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy misses out on final shortlist for 2025 African Footballer of the Year award
Guinean sensation Serhou Guirassy has missed out on the final three shortlist for the 2025 African Footballer of the Year award.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed the shortlist on Monday, with Guirassy no longer in contention.
The award will now be decided between Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain, and Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray, with the winner set to be announced on Wednesday in Rabat.
Guirassy, who had made it into the top ten earlier in the process, had legitimate hopes of competing for the prestigious honour.
Salah and Osimhen are previous winners, while Hakimi is aiming for his first title after finishing third in recent years.
His standout performances in the Champions League have made him a strong favourite this year.
Ahead of what will be a celebration of African football, Hakimi has been widely backed to receive the prestigious award.
