Guinean international Naby Keita is on his way out of German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen.
According to sources, the former Liverpool man is not in the plans of the German club heading into the 2025/26 football season.
Despite a recent change in head coach, with Horst Steffen taking over the reins, Werder Bremen’s stance on the former Liverpool star remains unchanged.
Sporting director Peter Niemeyer reaffirmed the club’s position in an interview with Deichstube.
“We positioned ourselves very clearly as a club back then – and this stance hasn’t changed, regardless of the coach,” Niemeyer stated.
Naby Keita signed for Werder Bremen on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 after leaving Liverpool with the aim of rejuvenating his career in Germany.
However, his time at the club was marred by injuries, disciplinary issues, and limited game time. In January 2025, he was loaned out to Hungarian side Ferencváros, where he has since made 11 appearances and is currently involved in their Champions League qualification campaign.
The midfielder’s agent is currently looking for a solution for his client.
