Guinean attacking midfielder Morlaye Sylla in advanced talks with FC St Pauli

Morlaye Sylla, the 26-year-old Guinean attacking midfielder, is reportedly engaged in serious discussions to join recently promoted Bundesliga club FC St Pauli after his contract with Arouca FC expired on 30 June.

Sylla, who trained at Horoya AC and joined Arouca in 2022, delivered consistently in Portugal, making 97 appearances with nine goals and ten assists over three seasons.

He has since opted against signing a new deal with Arouca and is seeking his next challenge in one of Europe’s top five leagues .

Africafoot reports that St Pauli have proactively approached Sylla, impressed by his vision, technical ability, and creativity in midfield.

Initial conversations with the German club’s sporting directors have been described as constructive, with Sylla responding positively to their project.

His representatives are meanwhile evaluating multiple offers, with interest also reported from FC Augsburg and other Bundesliga sides.

Sylla’s profile aligns with St Pauli’s ambitions. Technically adept and tactically intelligent, he has the versatility to influence the game both centrally and on the flanks.

At 1.70 m, he combines low centre of gravity with sharp ball distribution and incisive passing—qualities that stand out in a league famed for its physical intensity. His creative spark and vision could enhance St Pauli’s midfield dynamic.

A key facet of this potential move is the involvement of Morgan Guilavogui, a fellow Guinean and former Bundesliga player, who is reportedly facilitating discussions and giving Sylla insight into life at the club.

Their shared national identity and language may help smooth Sylla’s transition both on and off the pitch.

Valued at approximately €2 million by Transfermarkt, Sylla represents a competitively priced option, especially as a free agent . St Pauli’s interest is described as serious rather than speculative.

Sources suggest that both parties hope to secure a deal before the end of the month.

For Sylla, joining the Bundesliga would mark a substantial step up from Portugal’s Primeira Liga. It offers increased exposure, more rigorous competition, and a chance to establish himself in one of Europe’s most watched leagues.

St Pauli, meanwhile, would benefit from his creativity, energy, and proven track record of consistency.

Negotiations are reportedly in their final phase, with Sylla’s final decision expected shortly. His move would not only bolster FC St Pauli’s midfield ranks but also underscore the club’s growing ambition following promotion.

As all parties await a resolution, the transfer could emerge as one of the most exciting coups of the summer window for both player and club.
