Niko Kovač weighs rest period as Guinean forward Serhou Guirassy endures rare dip in form at Dortmund

Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy is open to remaining at Borussia Dortmund beyond the current season, even as several European giants and Saudi clubs continue to monitor his situation.

Reports from Sky indicate that Guirassy turned down a massive offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal last summer, despite the club reportedly putting forward an eye-watering €20 million net annual salary. The forward has no immediate interest in a move to the Saudi Pro League and remains fully committed to Dortmund.

Guirassy is said to be settled at BVB and eager to help the Black and Yellows compete for major honours. However, his long-term future is not guaranteed. The striker’s decision will partly depend on how Dortmund develop and perform over the coming months.

The 29-year-old has a €50 million release clause that becomes active next summer, but only for a select group of elite clubs including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal. With none of these clubs able to trigger the clause in the winter window, an early exit is not anticipated.

For now, Guirassy remains focused on his role at Dortmund, but his stay beyond next summer may ultimately hinge on the club’s trajectory.
