Guinea FGF stands with Issiaga Sylla after arrival of his late wife’s body in Conakry

The Guinean Football Federation welcomed the body of Doussou Keita, the late wife of national team captain Issiaga Sylla, after it arrived in Conakry on Tuesday night.

Keita passed away on Saturday, 7 December 2025, after a short illness.

The news shocked the football community, and the FGF confirmed the tragedy shortly after receiving the information.

FGF President Sory Doumbouya led a large delegation to the airport to greet Sylla and offer direct support as he returned to the country with his wife’s remains.

Federation officials comforted the player and stood by him during this difficult moment.

Sylla, 31, serves as captain of the national team and plays for PAE Astéras Tripolis in Greece.

He travelled back to Conakry immediately after learning of his wife’s condition and later oversaw the repatriation process.

The family scheduled the funeral for Wednesday, 10 December 2025. The programme includes:

09:30 – Removal of the body from the morgue of the Sino-Guinean Hospital of Kipé
14:00 – Funeral prayer followed by burial at Sonfonia Cemetery

The FGF continues to support Sylla during his period of mourning and encourages the public to keep the family in their thoughts as they prepare for the final farewell.
