The Guinea-Bissau national football team faces a financial hurdle of 80 million CFA francs to participate in the CAN 2015 qualifiers against the Central African Republic, scheduled in Morocco. However, the football authorities in Guinea-Bissau are struggling to gather the necessary funds.
In response to this challenge, a group of supporters has stepped up to assist the national team. They have initiated a nationwide fundraising campaign with the goal of raising 33 million CFA francs. This amount would cover at least the cost of the players’ plane tickets.
Despite the financial constraints, the national team coach has already named an 18-player squad, primarily comprising players based abroad. The first leg of the qualifier is set for May 18 in Brazzaville due to security concerns in Bangui. The return leg is scheduled for May 30 in Bissau.
