Al Ahly has locked down one of its rising stars, goalkeeper Mustafa Makhlouf, with a contract extension that keeps him at the club until 2028.
The 21-year-old, who has progressed through the youth system, is now part of the senior squad and shares duties with Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mostafa Shoubair, and Hamza Alaa.
A club insider confirmed to Kooora that the extension was finalized quietly some time ago, with the club opting to keep the move under wraps. The decision came following recommendations from the club’s planning committee, which advised renewing contracts for key young players, including Makhlouf, Shoubair, and midfielder Ahmed Nabil Kuka.
The source also noted that Makhlouf’s previous contract reflected his status in the youth ranks, with modest financial terms. Now part of the first team, his improved deal aligns with his growing role.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly is gearing up for a high-stakes clash against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria on Saturday, marking the first leg of the African Champions League semi-finals.
