Mohamed El Shenawy will remain at Al Ahly beyond this season after agreeing to a new deal with the club.
The veteran goalkeeper signed a two-year contract extension, with an option for a third, as the Egyptian giants moved swiftly to keep key players on board.
Club president Mahmoud Al Khatib personally met with El Shenawy, Ramy Rabia, and Yasser Ibrahim, alongside sports director Mohamed Ramadan, to seal the agreements.
“Mohamed El Shenawy renewed his contract, which was expiring at the end of the current season, for two seasons, with the possibility of adding a third season with the agreement of both parties.”
“Yasser Ibrahim renewed for two seasons, while Ramy Rabia signed for three seasons,” the insider added.
Al Khatib reportedly assured El Shenawy and Ibrahim that he would support potential loan moves after the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, if suitable offers arrive.
Al Ahly are gearing up for a crucial clash with South Africa’s Sundowns this Friday at Cairo Stadium in the CAF Champions League semi-final return leg after a goalless draw in the first leg.
