Smouha’s preparations for their final Egyptian Capital Cup group match have taken a twist, with interim coach Ahmed Abdel Aziz confirming veteran goalkeeper Hani Suleiman will not feature against Zamalek on Wednesday.
Bottom of Group A with zero points, Smouha are already out of contention for the next stage. Despite this, Abdel Aziz, who stepped in following Ahmed Sami’s exit, is keen to end on a high note. Zamalek, sitting fourth with two points, need a big win by at least two goals and a draw between El Gouna and Modern Sport to have any hope of progressing.
Suleiman’s exclusion was described as a technical decision, with Abdel Aziz instead naming Mohamed Ashraf and Hussein Taymour as the goalkeeping options.
Smouha’s full squad includes defenders Hisham Hafez, Mohamed Mustafa, Barakat Haggag, Mohamed Rabia, Abdel Rahman Amer, and Sherif Reda; midfielders Amr El Sisi, Douko Dodo, Mohamed Kone, Aboubakr Liadi, Mohamed Zika, Mohamed Makrouna, Al Habib Ahmed, Islam Gaber, Mahmoud Saber, and Ashraf Magdy; and forwards Samuel Amadi and Mustapha El-Badri.
